Let's peel back these layers!

juliannlaw Here is a closeup of the endpapers in my debut picture book, THE WORKD’S LONGEST SOCK. I work digitally in Adobe Photoshop but the program doesn’t do it all for me! I knit all the pixels by hand! Haha! I do have things I do to help me work quickly and efficiently, though, like using layers. Here you get to see me take off those layers one by one till we are back at nothing but a background. The World's Longest Sock is now available on  Amazon ,  Barnes and Noble ,  Target , or wherever you  buy books !

baby bumpers!

In the middle of all the craziness of trying to pack up and move and get the new house ready for us and the old condo ready for renters, I had to drop everything a couple weeks ago and make some crib bumpers. It became imperative that I make bumpers because Lucy kept getting arms and legs caught in between the rails of her crib and would FREAK OUT. I mean, complete panic, and who can blame her, it was the saddest thing ever. So boxes sat half packed, grades for my class were pushed off one more day, dishes remained un-washed, and I made some bumpers.

Now, the good thing about urgent crafting is that you can't overthink it. I just had to use what I had in my fabric stash and go with it. I did make a special run to the store for some buttons and string elastic, however, as a way to attach them to the rails (mostly because my friend Janelle told me her little Hazel unties her bumpers everyday and I wanted to avoid that little game!).

that is an awesome idea. My little nephew broke his arm in his crib, so I think bumpers are a must until they are old enough to be more coordinated. Way to get things done during a crazy time and for having a legitimate use of the term "urgent crafting".

buttons...that is a great idea. just today i was noticing that the ties on the bumper on oliver's crib are all coming unstitched - maybe i'll just replace them with buttons - brilliant.
what's the update on the remodel?
