The project my daughters did with me!

Here's something I'm rather proud of. . . I have raised two successful babysitters. When they were starting out babysitting, I was as nervous as they were! What if something happens? Will they have to cook? What if the kids are hard to handle? I went over instructions with them right until they walked out the door. I canceled my plans and stayed home in case they called for help. When they got home, I'd want all the details and then go over what to do for next time. They got better and better with each job and my nerves calmed down when I realized they were great babysitters who knew how to keep kids safe AND have fun with them at the same time. Hearing from friends and neighbors what awesome babysitters my daughters are made me so proud!   But now they are getting older and getting different jobs, and spending more weekend nights with friends rather than babysitting, they're ready to pass the torch on to younger babysitters. Hard to believe. . .


No, she's not upset. Nope, she's not crying. That's Lucy's new smile. . . she scrunches her nose up and closes her eyes and flashes those pearly gums. I believe this is her second joke, something she does specifically to get laughs (her first joke was a fake cough). It has been killin' me and I finally got it on film today.

Also, hard to believe that she is 8 months old.

And in unrelated news, I made Gardenburger BLT's for dinner. . . that's right. Veggie burgers with bacon on top. I felt slightly weird about it. Like smothering a kosher hotdog with nacho cheese, you feel slightly guilty even if you're not vegetarian or jewish, but that somehow makes it taste all the better.

hilarious! and the food combo... my particular fave is waffles and ice cream. the only time that has caused controversy is when my sister ate it while we were all on a sugar bet.:) "that doesn't count, does it?" she asked.

hospital buddies

Remember Lucy's hospital doll she named Birdie ? Well, we had a service project with the children's group at church a couple weeks ago and made a bunch of dolls just like Birdie to donate to Primary Children's Medical Center. They will go to future patients there and hopefully bring the same amount of love and comfort Birdie brought to Lucy. At our activity, we had 12 kids who stuffed, stitched, hemmed and dressed a total of 34 dolls! Patterns for dolls and robes can be found here: Doll A , Doll B , Robe A , Robe B . Download all four.
