juliannlaw Here is a closeup of the endpapers in my debut picture book, THE WORKD’S LONGEST SOCK. I work digitally in Adobe Photoshop but the program doesn’t do it all for me! I knit all the pixels by hand! Haha! I do have things I do to help me work quickly and efficiently, though, like using layers. Here you get to see me take off those layers one by one till we are back at nothing but a background. The World's Longest Sock is now available on  Amazon ,  Barnes and Noble ,  Target , or wherever you  buy books !

Friendship Quilt for Alice


I wanted to thank you all for contributing to the Friendship Quilt we put together for Alice Edvalson. She was so thrilled to be presented with it at the Christmas party and really was touched. And I want you to know, that it has been complete and delivered to Alice where she had a quilt stand ready to display it on! It turned out beautiful and was a fun project. Thanks again for taking the time to let Alice know how grateful we are to her for her years of service as our Sugar House Ward Relief Society President and how much we love her.

The friendship quilt is a wonderful tradition that is hundreds of years old. Quilts were often made by church congregations to give to their departing pastors and their families as they were moving on to another town or parish. Luckily, Alice isn't going anywhere, but we can still thank her for a job well done.

. . . they'd tell fantastic stories of medieval court life and dragons and castles! I just saw these fantastic shadow puppets at Kate's Paperie but of course they are sold out! Wouldn't it be fun to make some though? Lucy's into pirates these days. . . I could design a set of pirate shadow puppets. . . add that to the list of projects I would love to do but probably never will. Seriously.

hospital buddies

Remember Lucy's hospital doll she named Birdie ? Well, we had a service project with the children's group at church a couple weeks ago and made a bunch of dolls just like Birdie to donate to Primary Children's Medical Center. They will go to future patients there and hopefully bring the same amount of love and comfort Birdie brought to Lucy. At our activity, we had 12 kids who stuffed, stitched, hemmed and dressed a total of 34 dolls! Patterns for dolls and robes can be found here: Doll A , Doll B , Robe A , Robe B . Download all four.
