Graduation and Teacher Gift Printables - End of the School Year Goodies!

 Here it is, Maycember! Once the month of May starts it quickly snowballs into a continuous stream of concerts, recitals, final games, awards ceremonies, graduations and parties! It's almost too much, and yet, how could it be too much? This is it! This is what it's all for! All the hard work of going to school and taking the tests and practicing the piece and dreaming of the celebration, this is the culmination of all that effort!  Over of the years, as I've prepared teachers' gifts and graduation cards to use, I've saved the printable files to use again in the future or make available for others as well.  Here are some of my favorites: I like these green flowers and the Pink & White cookies at Trader Joe's. I thought they made a nice little bundle for either Teacher Appreciation week or a thank you at the end of the year (if you can keep the cookies around long enough!) Know any two year olds?

Before I had Lucy, I had a work baby. . . it was called Central Park. THE work project of all work projects. It wasn't just my baby, it was/is a lot of people's baby but I'm terribly proud of the work I did on it and the way it was going when I left. . . one of the hardest parts of leaving this amazing job that I'd been at for almost 10 years was not being able to finish this project.

Well, now I get to see it finished! And maybe I can actually help test it! It is an at-home educational program meant for toddlers and their parents (they call it "lapware" because the parent drives the mouse while, in theory, the child sits on your lap and points at the screen). Waterford Institute has been creating top-rate educational curriculum for schools for years and has demonstrated how technology can boost even the toughest schools into competitive test scores and eliminate remediation.

If you have or know any two-year-olds, consider signing up for their beta testing. They would love your input and I am pretty sure you'll love their product. See more of the videos and examples here. . .

hospital buddies

Remember Lucy's hospital doll she named Birdie ? Well, we had a service project with the children's group at church a couple weeks ago and made a bunch of dolls just like Birdie to donate to Primary Children's Medical Center. They will go to future patients there and hopefully bring the same amount of love and comfort Birdie brought to Lucy. At our activity, we had 12 kids who stuffed, stitched, hemmed and dressed a total of 34 dolls! Patterns for dolls and robes can be found here: Doll A , Doll B , Robe A , Robe B . Download all four.

. . . they'd tell fantastic stories of medieval court life and dragons and castles! I just saw these fantastic shadow puppets at Kate's Paperie but of course they are sold out! Wouldn't it be fun to make some though? Lucy's into pirates these days. . . I could design a set of pirate shadow puppets. . . add that to the list of projects I would love to do but probably never will. Seriously.
