Let's peel back these layers!

juliannlaw Here is a closeup of the endpapers in my debut picture book, THE WORKD’S LONGEST SOCK. I work digitally in Adobe Photoshop but the program doesn’t do it all for me! I knit all the pixels by hand! Haha! I do have things I do to help me work quickly and efficiently, though, like using layers. Here you get to see me take off those layers one by one till we are back at nothing but a background. The World's Longest Sock is now available on  Amazon ,  Barnes and Noble ,  Target , or wherever you  buy books !

Thanks, Mel's Diner San Francisco, for hosting the easiest Thanksgiving Dinner ever. Complete with old college buddies, full turkey dinner for the adults, chicken nuggets and hotdogs for the kids which came in those cool car boxes. . .
. . . pumpkin pie, something strange going on with that guy over my shoulder. . .
. . . and a lot of smiles.

And thanks for ditching the fam to come spend Thanksgiving with us downtown. It was so fun to see you guys.

Thanks, Powell Line Cable Car for giving us a lift up and over the hill down to Ghiardelli Square and Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39. You gave us beautiful views and saved our feet a little bit.

Thanks, Westin St. Fancis for being centrally located and for the cool Christmas displays. . .
. . . the 12 foot gingerbread castle and the huge Christmas Tree with cascading lights that was impossible for little hands not to touch. . .


We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend in San Francisco. . . and I added a few things to my long list of things to be grateful for.

. . . they'd tell fantastic stories of medieval court life and dragons and castles! I just saw these fantastic shadow puppets at Kate's Paperie but of course they are sold out! Wouldn't it be fun to make some though? Lucy's into pirates these days. . . I could design a set of pirate shadow puppets. . . add that to the list of projects I would love to do but probably never will. Seriously.

hospital buddies

Remember Lucy's hospital doll she named Birdie ? Well, we had a service project with the children's group at church a couple weeks ago and made a bunch of dolls just like Birdie to donate to Primary Children's Medical Center. They will go to future patients there and hopefully bring the same amount of love and comfort Birdie brought to Lucy. At our activity, we had 12 kids who stuffed, stitched, hemmed and dressed a total of 34 dolls! Patterns for dolls and robes can be found here: Doll A , Doll B , Robe A , Robe B . Download all four.
