Let's peel back these layers!

juliannlaw Here is a closeup of the endpapers in my debut picture book, THE WORKD’S LONGEST SOCK. I work digitally in Adobe Photoshop but the program doesn’t do it all for me! I knit all the pixels by hand! Haha! I do have things I do to help me work quickly and efficiently, though, like using layers. Here you get to see me take off those layers one by one till we are back at nothing but a background. The World's Longest Sock is now available on  Amazon ,  Barnes and Noble ,  Target , or wherever you  buy books !

happy birthday, little one!

Our little Lucy just turned one, so here are some things I know about one-year-olds. . .

One-year-olds love balloons.
. . . and cousins and friends and Great Grandmas. . .. . . and they love presents and wrapping paper and ribbon . . . and birthday cards . . .
One-year-olds DO NOT like candles . . .
. . . so they may seem dubious at first . . .. . . but they soon realize they like cupcakes . . .. . . a lot . . .
. . . which is good 'cause there are a lot of them . . .. . . 'cause one-year-olds' moms think a birthday party is a really good excuse to stock up on things they themselves like, like cupcakes and izze soda . . . . . . oh, and one-year-olds definitely love their dads . . .
. . . even if they're going through a mommy phase . . .

I'm glad balloons are a hit because I was planning on having them for this munchkin's b-day in a couple months. Also thinking about wrapping up some cords, empty boxes, measuring cups, and cheerios. Seems like they'd be more appreciated than "real" gifts ;)

Cute cupcakes. Happy Birthday Lucy!

P.S. Love her gorgeous hair.

Happy Birthday! Man, she's a doll! I just love her! Sorry we couldn't be there to celebrate with you... it looks like you all had a blast! Couple questions... did you make those cupcakes!? Is that a full body apron you put her in!? And if so, AWESOME... where can I get one for my messy boys?

What a party! How fun. I am so amazed at how the year has gone. I wish we could see Lucy more often.

Hey, Juliann! I can't believe Lucy is 1 already! My little guy is 6 months old, and it's starting to freak me out . . . it wouldn't suprise me if he's bigger than your little one (he's 27.5" and 20 lbs!). Anyway, I'm sure you're a fabulous mom. It's good to see you are doing so well. We miss you guys! (P.S. Feel free to visit my little blog: mary-cox-family.blogspot.com

Happy Birthday little Lucy! You are such a sweetie! Looks like the big day was a hit!
Yay for 1-year-olds!! We've got a very busy one too, who also didn't love the candle-singing situation. (loved balloons of course) Poor Jack didn't get much ribbon/paper time with big brother trying to steal the show.

Happy Birthday Lucy!!

I'm WAY behind on my comments--but Happy Birthday little Lucy Lu! Your mama sure knows how to throw a party--those cupcakes look amazing. One day I'll tell you about the party we threw as new roomies...your mama made me wear all black and an apron...:) Love you guys!
