Let's peel back these layers!

juliannlaw Here is a closeup of the endpapers in my debut picture book, THE WORKD’S LONGEST SOCK. I work digitally in Adobe Photoshop but the program doesn’t do it all for me! I knit all the pixels by hand! Haha! I do have things I do to help me work quickly and efficiently, though, like using layers. Here you get to see me take off those layers one by one till we are back at nothing but a background. The World's Longest Sock is now available on  Amazon ,  Barnes and Noble ,  Target , or wherever you  buy books !

Ouch. . .

So, Lucy was down for her morning nap which usually lasts an hour and I was out in the yard being productive, watering plants, picking up apricots, etc. Twenty minutes later, I'd worked my way to the back of the house where Lucy's room is, I heard her screaming. I dropped the hose and ran to go get her. . . the side door was locked. Crap. I madly ran to the front door, flip flops smacking the uneven asphalt loudly and tripped up the cement steps. I felt my toe stinging but of course I was more worried about the crying baby in the back room, imagining her leaping from her crib and landing on her head. . . but don't worry, she was fine when I got there. Just sitting in her crib waiting for me to come get her and upset that it had taken me so long. I sat and rocked her for a while to calm her down and then looked down and my toe. . . or the bloody stump that had been my toe. . . and then I looked at the trail of bloody toe prints crossing Lucy's cream colored carpet and evenly placed along my running stride throughout the entire house.

Enough of that story. But it did look like an awesome scene for a Law & Order. I should've left it for when Mike got home and hid somewhere while he assessed the crime scene.

**Update: While I was writing this, Lucy got into our island cupboard and among other things dumped a bottle of Sesame Oil onto the floor and then rubbed it around with hands, feet, and bum. So now add the permeating smell of Chinese food and a shiny baby to the above crime scene and Mike would really be left scratching his head.**

Needless to say you have a bit of scrubbing to do today. But at least you have super cute toenails!

Ouch is right. It seems to me like you have toe issues! Haven't you lost a toenail or two already!!
It sounds like it's time to baby proof the house. Good luck! Whenever you think your safe and you've got it all, they'll find something else.

Maybe little Luce is ready for some cooking classes? At least she didn't tear apart the L'Oreal Paris make-up room!
Wait a minute... you never told me you were a writer! Chalk that up on Juliann's list of "I'm good at this too."
I hope your toe heels, Lucy forgives, and that Mike helps clean up the crime scene. Thanks for the story.
