The project my daughters did with me!

Here's something I'm rather proud of. . . I have raised two successful babysitters. When they were starting out babysitting, I was as nervous as they were! What if something happens? Will they have to cook? What if the kids are hard to handle? I went over instructions with them right until they walked out the door. I canceled my plans and stayed home in case they called for help. When they got home, I'd want all the details and then go over what to do for next time. They got better and better with each job and my nerves calmed down when I realized they were great babysitters who knew how to keep kids safe AND have fun with them at the same time. Hearing from friends and neighbors what awesome babysitters my daughters are made me so proud!   But now they are getting older and getting different jobs, and spending more weekend nights with friends rather than babysitting, they're ready to pass the torch on to younger babysitters. In the works. . .

I'm so excited about something. . . there is this great new service for designers and crafters and DIY people out there called Spoonflower that will print custom designs onto fabric. Now, you may or may not know this but I tinker around with textile design all the time, coming up with designs and dreaming about how to get them to print. . . well, Spoonflower is my ticket. I've been invited to be in the Beta group, which maybe isn't all that exclusive, but indulge me for a bit and let me believe it is.

And I have the perfect project for it. I'm going to print panels for a little soft-book for the diaper crowd. Here is the cover for the book. . .

this reminds me of the Peanut Butter & Jelly Mystery series. If I'm remembering right. :) That sandwich does look yummy and awesome! This sounds like a great project!

hospital buddies

Remember Lucy's hospital doll she named Birdie ? Well, we had a service project with the children's group at church a couple weeks ago and made a bunch of dolls just like Birdie to donate to Primary Children's Medical Center. They will go to future patients there and hopefully bring the same amount of love and comfort Birdie brought to Lucy. At our activity, we had 12 kids who stuffed, stitched, hemmed and dressed a total of 34 dolls! Patterns for dolls and robes can be found here: Doll A , Doll B , Robe A , Robe B . Download all four.
