The project my daughters did with me!

Here's something I'm rather proud of. . . I have raised two successful babysitters. When they were starting out babysitting, I was as nervous as they were! What if something happens? Will they have to cook? What if the kids are hard to handle? I went over instructions with them right until they walked out the door. I canceled my plans and stayed home in case they called for help. When they got home, I'd want all the details and then go over what to do for next time. They got better and better with each job and my nerves calmed down when I realized they were great babysitters who knew how to keep kids safe AND have fun with them at the same time. Hearing from friends and neighbors what awesome babysitters my daughters are made me so proud!   But now they are getting older and getting different jobs, and spending more weekend nights with friends rather than babysitting, they're ready to pass the torch on to younger babysitters. The Weekend of Much Yardwork. . .

My parents were in town last weekend for mother's day and to help us move. . . Mother's Day happened, the move didn't. So we put them to work helping play with Lucy and tame our crazy yard, or was it the other way around? Thank goodness I come from a long line of excellent yardworkers, hope those green thumbs are a dominant trait.

Here is my dad up in a tree where he also hung a rope swing for the nephews:

Anyhow, we got a lot done. Thanks, Mom and Dad and Gramma! Are you busy next weekend?

The lilac is beautiful!!! I was so worried mine was dead -but it came back to life :)
I think Lucy looks like Grandma for sure!

Oh my goodness... she does look A LOT like Mom in that pic. It is so darn cute. I sure wish I could be there to help out... or at least to play with Lucy! :)

hospital buddies

Remember Lucy's hospital doll she named Birdie ? Well, we had a service project with the children's group at church a couple weeks ago and made a bunch of dolls just like Birdie to donate to Primary Children's Medical Center. They will go to future patients there and hopefully bring the same amount of love and comfort Birdie brought to Lucy. At our activity, we had 12 kids who stuffed, stitched, hemmed and dressed a total of 34 dolls! Patterns for dolls and robes can be found here: Doll A , Doll B , Robe A , Robe B . Download all four.
